Privacy Policy for UNA

UNA ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the UNA mobile application and website (una.now).
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name to provide our services.
Entries & Content: Text entries, voice recordings, photos, and other content you create within the app. Regular entries may be synced to our secure servers to enable cloud backup and multi-device access.
Sacred Vault Data: Content you designate as "Sacred" is stored exclusively on your device. Sacred data is encrypted with AES-256 and is never transmitted to any server. This is an architectural guarantee, not a setting.
Usage Analytics: We use privacy-first analytics services, to collect anonymous usage patterns. No personal data or journal content is included in analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
To provide and maintain the UNA app services
To sync your non-Sacred content across your devices
To improve app performance and user experience
To send service-related communications
3. Sacred Vault — Our Privacy Guarantee
Content stored in the Sacred Vault:
Is encrypted with AES-256-GCM on your device
Requires Face ID or Touch ID to access
Is never transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party
Cannot be accessed by UNA, itligt DBA, or any external party
Uses iOS Data Protection class "Complete" (inaccessible when device is locked)
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data only:
With Supabase (our backend provider) to store synced data, protected by Row Level Security
When required by law or to protect our legal rights
With your explicit consent (e.g., FamilySearch integration)
5. Data Retention & Deletion
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app settings. Upon deletion:
All server-side data is permanently removed within 30 days
Sacred Vault data exists only on your device and is removed when you delete the app
You may export your data before deletion using the "Download My Data" feature
6. Children's Privacy
UNA is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Family accounts are managed by parents/guardians.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3), encryption at rest, Row Level Security on all database tables, and biometric authentication for sensitive data.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes through the app or email.
